CYCLING RETREAT PROVENCE, FRANCE

CYCLING RETREAT, PROVENCE

PEDAL. STRETCH. BREATHE.

1 to 8 June 2025 - Enquire Now - 3 Rooms Available

Provence is a vibrant tapestry of sensual delights—a place of colorful markets, festive traditions, sun-kissed delicacies, and, of course, exquisite rosé.

For cyclists, Provence is a paradise waiting to be explored, and the perfect setting for a Soulfit Adventures cycling retreat.

This retreat takes place in the medieval village of Villecroze, located in the Var region—often called the "wild" or "green" Provence—far from the hustle of busy tourist hotspots. While Provence is famous for its olive groves, vineyards, lavender fields, and Mediterranean pine forests, its rugged Alpine foothills and limestone massifs reveal a wilder, untamed side. The region is carved by rivers descending from the snowy peaks of the Alps, creating dramatic valleys and gorges, the most spectacular of which is the Gorges du Verdon.

Cycling through the Gorges du Verdon is an awe-inspiring experience. Known as the "Grand Canyon of Europe," its winding roads offer dramatic views of turquoise waters, towering limestone cliffs, and lush green landscapes. The climbs are as rewarding as they are challenging, with every turn revealing breathtaking panoramas and a sense of achievement that lingers long after the ride. It’s a route that captivates both body and soul, making it a highlight of this retreat.

Each day, you’ll ride under the warm Mediterranean sun, weaving through enchanting Provençal landscapes and picturesque villages, such as Sainte-Marie Monstiers, where narrow cobblestone streets lead to charming squares, and the aroma of lavender fills the air. Along the way, you’ll immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of the region.

When you're not on the bike, you’ll unwind in retreat mode at our private boutique accommodation, nestled in a tranquil and unspoiled corner of Provence. It’s the perfect place to recharge, surrounded by the timeless beauty of the region.

On this cycling retreat, Provence becomes your stage, inviting you to see, feel, and discover its magic. You'll leave with a deeper appreciation for life and a nouvelle façon de vivre—a new way of living, inspired by the French art of harmony and joie de vivre.

A timeless adventure awaits. Let us guide you through endless possibilities.

"It's been such a magical trip!!!! Thank you so much for everything - I really have had the time of my life - such a lovely group too! Thank you for such a fantastic experience - a trip I will never forget, thank you."

Your stunning home for the week is a hidden gem. Hidden but not too remote, it' s located in the village of Villecroze, in the heart of Provence in the Haut Var. You will stay in an old sheepfold dating from 1780 that's been sympathicately renovated into a residence of incredible charm, where you will enjoy a calming and a very special atmosphere. With names like Bohemian, La Verdon and Provence, each room has been decorated differently from the French countryside with Parisian elegance, polished rustic looks to the ornate feel of antiques and knick-knacks, with exposed timber and chandeliers. All accommodation is in double shared rooms with private bathrooms. Some bedrooms have direct access to an outside terrace, and all enjoy the scents of Provence: thyme, rosemary and of course, lavender.

Villecroze is renowned for its local produce such as olive oil, truffles and honey and is situated in the foothills of the Alps, 60 km from the sea, 80 km from the snow fields and just 90 minutes drive from Nice, Marseille and Toulon. The village itself is situated on the crossroads of a wine route, a truffle route as well as the renowned Gorges du Verdon. Europe's very own Grand Canyon is one of the tallest intact natural domains of Europe and the setting for the Queens stage on the bike!

Expect to fall in love at first sight and experience joie de vivre in Provence Soulfit Adventures style.

General Practical Information Guide

is this cycling retreat for me?

This retreat is for Level 2 – 3 riders. Riding in The Var Region of Provence is physically demanding and can be challenging. Regular cycling in the months prior with climbing practise is strongly recommended. There are very few flat roads in the region. Typically we ride up to 50-80kms, sometimes more, with up to 1000 metres elevation each day. The retreat is not a training camp and we are focused on you enjoying a stimulating yet relaxed time.  Our itineraries are designed to show the best that the region has to offer and the rides are graded by the level of difficulty which relates mainly to the distance and terrain.

Road e-bikes available on request to the enable all fitness levels to enjoy riding together.

Non-cycling friends/family

Non-cycling participants are always welcome and all activities are voluntary. Provence is the perfect destination for non-cycling partners to enjoy whilst you’re out on your ride. Quaint villages abound and are within easy reach to our accommodation, each village with a different market every day of the week. Of course you can't come to Provence without a visit to the lavender fields! There is also wonderful hiking in the area or for a more relaxed day, the estates beautiful pool for some well deserved down time. There is enough to do on our trips to keep riders happy, and we are only too happy help guests not participating in the organised activities with optional excursions at their own expense.
